Quiet, mysterious and full of contrasts: The Traumschleife LandZeitTour leads through the heart of the Hunsrück and combines nature-close paths with impressive historical witnesses such as Burg Baldenau. Between Hinzerath, Morscheid and Burtscheid, a circular hike unfolds that wins you over not just through its trails, but through its atmosphere.
Starting point & getting there
The circular route begins at the hiking car park in Hinzerath, a small district of the town of Morbach. Getting there by car is straightforward, and parking spaces are available in sufficient numbers. Those who want to eat before or after the tour will find several places to stop in nearby Morbach.
Character of the tour
With around 8.1 kilometres in length and minimal elevation changes, the LandZeitTour is perfectly suited for leisurely half-day trips, couples or relaxed family hikes. The route is consistently well signposted and has been awarded the Deutschen Wandersiegel Premiumweg. In 2017 it even achieved 2nd place as Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail.
Highlights along the way
- Burg Baldenau: A moss-covered ruin in the middle of the landscape – it looks as though it has fallen out of time. Photographers will get their money’s worth here.
