The starting point is at Berglicht at the wind farm. Within just a few minutes, the first wind turbines come into view – impressive, but not intrusive. Wide paths lead across open fields before the trail dips into the Haardtwald. The walking is pleasant, the terrain gently undulating, and the soft hum of the rotors accompanies the start.

At several stations along the Traumschleife, you learn how wind power works and what contribution it makes to the regional energy supply. Panels explain how the sun drives the wind and how old wind turbines are transformed into modern installations through repowering. Hardly any other tour illustrates the contrast between nature and technology so vividly. The wind turbines stand quietly in the landscape, while gentle hills and forests of the Hunsrück spread out behind them. Particularly atmospheric is the section at the “Arbeitsplatz mit Rückenwind”, where information panels show the people behind the installations – technicians, planners and engineers.

A special photo subject is the leaf tunnel near the fields: an overgrown trellis arch of branches and leaves that arches over the path like a green gateway. In autumn it glows in yellow and orange – an almost fairy-tale section. Narrow forest paths then lead back into open landscape, where the view opens up again.
🌄 View & rest area
Shortly before the end of the tour there is a rest area with a swing and information panels – one of the most beautiful spots for a break with a view. From here you can see far across fields, forests and wind turbines. A place that shows that energy generation and landscape tranquillity can coexist.
📏 Route & difficulty
The circular tour covers approximately 11 km with around 300 metres of elevation gain. The path is mostly easy to walk, only slightly more demanding at the rocks and forest paths. Surface: firm forest tracks, natural passages, occasionally mossy or stony sections. Difficulty: easy to moderate.
🧳 Equipment
Sturdy hiking boots and a windproof jacket are recommended. Photographers will find subjects in rocks, leaves and technical details. In autumn, a light tripod is worthwhile for long exposures at the spring or for atmospheric wide-angle shots with the wind turbines.
