What I take with me on my hikes

On this page you will find my personal selection of gear that I regularly use on my hikes – or have tested in comparable form. This is not a generic list or paid product advertising, but genuine recommendations from real experience.

The products listed here have either been used by me across many tours or deliberately selected because they have proven to be particularly useful, robust and versatile in my everyday life. That is exactly why I share them here – transparently, honestly and in the spirit of the project DR Moments.

Why I created this page

Time and again I get asked what I take with me on my tours: Which backpack is light but stable? Which shoes have proven themselves on long stretches? Which power bank holds up even in cold temperatures?

Instead of answering the same questions over and over, I created this page – as a consolidated overview for everyone who has similar questions. Here you will find my basic kit for day tours, some smaller extras for longer hikes and a few digital helpers that make life easier on the road.

Lightweight, functional and proven

The gear on DR Moments follows a simple principle: it should be as light, reliable and flexible as possible. I don’t want to have to think too much while out and about – I want to focus on the route.

This includes:
– a well-fitting hiking backpack
– weatherproof clothing with a small pack size
– a simple first aid kit
– a power bank, headlamp and a foldable water bottle
– snacks, a pocket knife and often a lightweight seat pad too

Many products come from established brands such as Salomon, Deuter, Ortlieb or Anker. But I don’t pay attention to brands – I focus on function.

Affiliate links – what does that mean?

All product links on this page are so-called affiliate links, mostly to Amazon. This means: if you buy a product through one of these links, I receive a small commission – without the price changing for you.

There are no extra costs for you, but you support my work on DR Moments – for example with expanding the website, hosting or creating new content.

I only recommend what I have used myself or what I can stand behind in good conscience. No paid placement, no bought reviews. Just my honest opinion – just as you’ve come to expect from DR Moments.

Who is this page for?

For everyone who doesn’t want to set off perfectly equipped – but doesn’t want to go in blind either.
For people who enjoy being outdoors and appreciate practical solutions.
And for everyone who wants to improve their own outdoor experience with small, honest steps.

Whether you are just starting out with hiking or already have many kilometres behind you – maybe you will find exactly the one piece you were still missing.

Still got questions?

If you have questions about specific products, feel free to write to me via the contact form – or drop by on Instagram. There I regularly show what I currently have with me, how I use it and what I pay attention to when packing.

I hope you enjoy browsing – and of course your next tour!
